  17. introduced and is now shipping BANYAN VINES 5, VINES 10, and VINES
  18. 20. These versions of the VINES network operating system
  19. economically provide the full range of VINES network services
  20. and functionality to small and mid-sized enterprises and
  21. organizations needing to connect groups of 5, 10, or 20 users to
  22. each other. Banyan also announced the expansion of its North
  23. American reseller channel to sell and support these products.

  67. functionality as VINES Unlimited. VINES Unlimited is Banyan's
  68. technologically advanced networking system, delivering extensive
  69. fully-integrated network services to unlimited numbers of users.

  71. VINES integrated services include global directory, multiple levels
  72. of security control, local and wide area communications, messaging,
  73. time, file, and print. Other important common attributes are ease
  74. of installation and expansion, ease of use and administration,
  75. interoperability among all VINES Version 4.X and 5.X servers, and
  76. the ability to support more than a thousand popular software
  77. applications for DOS, Windows, OS/2, and Macintosh environments.

  100. mainframes and minicomputers, and a host of peripheral devices.
  101. Customers may use any of more than 180 Banyan-certified Intel 386
  102. or i486 based computing platforms as a network server for any VINES
  103. product.

  111. Included at no extra charge with VINES 5, VINES 10, and VINES 20 is
  112. VINES PC Network Printing. A $495 value, PC Network Printing
  113. enables users to share printers connected directly to VINES-
  114. networked DOS and OS/2 PCs in the same way that they share printers
  115. connected directly to VINES network servers.

  117. As is the case with all VINES products, the unique StreetTalk
  118. Global Directory Service is a standard feature included at no extra
  119. charge. Integrated with all VINES network services, StreetTalk
  120. enables anyone or any computer resource on a VINES network to
  121. access any other user, application, or resource easily, directly
  122. and instantaneously from any PC or terminal anywhere on the
  123. network.

  137. To make VINES 5, VINES 10, and VINES 20 available to the widest
  138. possible range of customers, Banyan has expanded its North American
  139. distribution channel by adding a new category which will focus on
  140. selling VINES 5, VINES 10, VINES 20, selected VINES software
  141. options, VINES software subscriptions, Banyan ICA (Intelligent
  142. Communications Adaptor) cards, and Banyan documentation. (See

  148. Banyan is extending the current VINES subscription program to cover
  149. VINES 5, VINES 10, and VINES 20 products in addition to other VINES
  150. offerings. For a subscription fee which varies according to the
  151. product, the program provides VINES customers twelve months of
  152. minor and update software releases plus the opportunity to purchase
  153. major software upgrades at significantly discounted prices.

  165.   With Shipment of VINES 10, Banyan Ceases Shipping VINES TEAM
  166.  
  167. Effective this date, VINES 10 is Banyan's only orderable and
  168. currently shipping ten-user product. Pending orders for VINES Team
  169. will be fulfilled with shipments of VINES 10. Customers already
  170. using VINES TEAM and having an annual TEAM software subscription
  171. now have the freedom of expanding their network horizontally or
  172. vertically according to their needs. These users may: 
  173.  
  174.      * Stay with VINES TEAM as is. 
  175.      * Enhance VINES TEAM with optional LAN Server-to-Server
  176.        communications and/or any other VINES options.
  177.      * Up-rev from VINES TEAM Version 4.10 to VINES 10 Version 4.11
  178.        or Version 5.0.
  179.      * Migrate easily to VINES 20 or VINES Unlimited.
